On March 26, 1966 (Showa 41), Isao Udo became independent and established Nippon Mining Corporation, the predecessor to NIKKO Corporation. At the time of its founding, the company’s main business was subcontracted maintenance work at the Nisshin Steel Himeji Plant. Alongside this, the company began developing combustion equipment (product name: Jet Burner) and started offering steelmaking consulting services. The Jet Burner became the company’s first hit product, playing a major role in the company’s growth and development after its founding, and it continues to be a significant part of the business today.

Nippon Kosan initially focused on supplying steelmaking materials such as ferroalloys and refractories. Over time, the company expanded its offerings to include steelmaking equipment such as jet burners, dust collectors, lime injectors, and carbon injectors. As a result, the characters 'Kosan' no longer reflected the actual scope of the business. In February 1977, the company was renamed NIKKO INDUSTRY CO., LTD. At the same time, the headquarters was relocated to the current Shin-Nunobiki Building.

Our emergence as a dust collection equipment manufacturer occurred between the late 1980s and early 1990s, marking a major turning point in our company’s history. This shift was driven by the arrival of Sumio Ueda, who was then serving as Director and General Manager. As an experienced engineer who had worked extensively in the dust collection industry, Ueda brought invaluable technical expertise and know-how, enabling us to secure large-scale projects. Additionally, growing awareness of environmental and pollution issues throughout the 1980s brought our dust collection systems into the spotlight.

During this period, while business in Taiwan and South Korea continued, it appeared to have passed its peak. On the other hand, negotiations for complete steelmaking systems, particularly electric furnaces, began to materialize across Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand. In 2012, NIKKO secured its first comprehensive domestic order for a ladle furnace (LF) and auxiliary equipment, including design, manufacturing, and construction, making a significant impact amidst major competitors.
